Location, Location, Location

When it comes to library love, location is everything…

This month’s theme has revealed just how many lovely libraries there are in the world; and how many people love them enough to make them a part of one of the most important days of their lives. Our last Library Love post highlights a few popular wedding/ engagement photo locations at libraries around the world. As an added bonus, we’ve included a link to one last library love story. The delightful story fits right in with our theme, describing how a couple of library employees tied the knot in one library and partied it up in another!

Thanks to all who participated in this month’s theme! Next month is our first Librarians of the World theme, featuring stories sent in exclusively from our Australian readers. Enjoy!

Picturesque Library Locations

Seattle, Washington

Bonnie and Matt generously contributed some of their lovely engagement photos that were taken in the Seattle Public Library in downtown Seattle. Upon doing a little research, we discovered that this unique library building is a favorite photo location for many couples! Enjoy Bonnie and Matt’s pictures, and be sure to check out the Seattle Public Library yourself if you’re in the area.

Sydney, Australia

The Customs House Library at Circular Quay in Sydney, Australia, is another favorite for wedding photos. While we don’t have any pictures of a bride and groom to show off, the library alone is a beautiful sight.

Kansas City, Missouri

The “Community Bookshelf” facade of the Central Library in Kansas City, MO, is another unique and photogenic library location. Thank you to our readers who submitted this one–what a great idea, Central Library!

A Library Wedding Like No Other!

One of our readers graciously shared a link with us about his own wedding, which took place in one library before moving to another library in town for the reception. The couple even used the bookmobile as their transportation between the two locations! The story is detailed on the blog, Come Play With Me. Below is just a snippet of the story. Visit the Come Play With Me blog for the full article…including pictures! Thank you, and congratulations Adam and Priscilla!

“…Why a Library?

They started talking about getting married at the library soon after.

“For both of us, the wedding is a coming-out party into the community, and libraries are really community centers,” Novitt said.

“I love the idea that whenever we go back to the Forbes from now on, we’ll have the great memory of having all of our family and friends there,” Miner said…”

Stay tuned for Librarians of the World stories next month! We’re excited to share some zany stories from Australian librarians with you.
